When God speaks to us with pictures rather than words
He often uses images that are familiar to us and our way of life
For example, when He spoke to Joseph in Genesis 37 He spoke in images of a field where Joseph and his brothers would have worked
In Genesis 40 when God spoke to the king's cup bearer in prison He used the image of grapes
But in the same scenario when He spoke to the king's baker He used the image of bread
And when Jesus spoke to His disciples He used images of fishing as that was the trade of a number of them
All these images were familiar to each person so they knew God was speaking to them directly
He speaks to each of us in a language that is familiar to us - not our native spoken language but the language of our heart.
He knows us intimately and He knows the language of the heart for each of us individually
For myself seeing an unusual or unexpected bird in my day is a message of God's love for me like a bunch of flowers from a husband
A beutiful fragrance is a message of God's ever present closeness to me
