Having considered how Abraham
responded to the promise from God
Trying to bring it about by
self-effort
Let us look at the word God gave to
Noah in Genesis -
I have decided to destroy all
living creatures because the earth is filled with violence
So build a boat from my directions
because I am going to flood the earth
And whereas Abraham could
understand with his mind how to have a baby
Noah had no understanding of rain
or floods or boats
He was completely dependent on God
for the way ahead
And yet ……. It wasn’t a situation
for –
Be still in the presence of the Lord - and wait patiently for Him
to act
It was something Noah had to do himself.
Portion by portion and listening to God he had to outwork the word
he had been given
He had to build the ark, bring the animals in and store the food
For Noah it was a step into the unknown and having faith
as God regularly instructed him for the next stage
And this project spanned 100 years or thereabouts
A long time to remain steadfast and believe that you really had
heard God
And that a flood was coming to destroy all people!!
