God does not forget us - He just works in unexpected ways
A man was shipwrecked on a desert island
He built himself a hut
The days were hot ~ the nights were cold
He scanned the horizon for ships day after day
But none passed by
One day he returned from wandering the island
and found his hut burnt to the ground
a smoking heap of ashes - he had nothing left
He was distraught as he lay beside the ruins and slept
Next morning he woke to find a ship anchored off the island
And as the captain approached, he said
We saw your smoke signal and came to rescue you !!!
All the man possessed had to be destroyed
before he could be found and rescued
God had seemed so distant – for so long
But He was working on both ends of the situation
To bring the rescue ship near at just the right time
and to reduce the marooned man to nothing
in order to bring him to his knees
