As it stands - alone - a musical note has no value
No identity, no message, no significance
nothing ......
Only when it is positioned on the music stave does it have any meaning
and it is the position that gives it identity
the position determines the note, the pitch, the sound
The position, in relation to other notes, extends and adds to
the fullness of how they sound
Harmony..... or discord ......
All determined by position and related or surrounding notes
