Did He really mean it ? (2)

Did Jesus really mean it when He said in Luke 6:30

Give to everyone who asks you,
and if anyone takes what belongs to you,
do not demand it back.

Did He really mean us to live by this principle or
was He just wasting words ?

Why then, do so few of us live by what He says - rather we choose
who we will give to and who we won't;
who we will lend to and who we will won't
generally based on past experience of
a) how much do they ask of us - more often than we want to give
b) if we lend it - will they give it back and in good condition
c) have they got character issues in these areas
that need working on and I'll be the one to teach them!!

Jesus gives no exclusion clauses - He just says do it !!

Are we living different to the world?
with faith that what seems outrageous to our common sense
will in fact invest richly into our eternal bank account

How easy it is for us to go our own way (which seems right) rather than His way! We may see it in other Christians, whilst being blind to it in our own lives. "Search me, O God" (Psalm 139v23)
