Isa 50:10-11
Let him who walks in the dark, who has no light,
trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.
But now, all you who light fires
and provide yourselves with flaming torches,
go, walk in the light of your fires and of the torches you have set ablaze.
This is what you shall receive from my hand:
You will lie down in torment.

This verse says to me that when things seem dark
and the way ahead is not obvious
we have two choices
1) We can stay close to God and trust Him for He is the Way
He knows the Way even in the dark
for he doesn't dwell in darkness
and in His time things will become clear for us
2) We can light our own fires or torches
i.e. make our own provision
find our own way out with logic; rational think or self effort
but this doesn't bring God's blessing on us
rather He says it will leave us in torment
So next time you feel you're in the dark in a situation
or confused or unknowing about which direction to take
Don't forget - you have a choice
You can take things into your own hands - and mess it up
Or you can take His hand
and walk in trust and confidence - in Him
