The Bigger Picture

Have you noticed how some of us so easily become focussed on our own life as if it is the only thing that exists in the universe. Asking ourselves such questions as – am I doing enough (for God)? Is what I am doing valid ? Am I becoming what God wants me to become? etc However, I’ve been considering how it’s not about me and my life – it’s about God and His purposes - which are eternal - His plans took shape before I was ever dreamed about and His same consistent plan will run for a good while longer beyond me. We need to be willing to walk in the unknown in many ways.
We need to chill out more and rest in Him - live by faith; exist by faith and pursue relationship with God and everything else will make sense in His way
It’s not for me to see, or to know or to be satisfied with how it’s developing - It’s God’s plot; God’s purposes; God’s plan and He knows where it is going - He just wants us to be - be on board and go where it goes. Respond to the opportunities that He brings our way – look to see Him and find Him in all things and be diligent and persevere in Him
A craftsman works and labours; shapes and moulds and on-lookers scratch their heads thinking – what is he hoping to do – nothing seems to be taking shape – then all of a sudden – towards the end – it all makes sense and we can see what he had been seeing right from the start
In the same way – God is working at something – and He can see it even now – but its definition and shape is not clear to us and we need to live with that
The disciples didn’t know what they were getting into when they followed Jesus – in their day many people gathered round and followed someone who could teach or had charisma – and the disciples followed Jesus as they recognised there was something about Him but they didn’t know what – I don’t know whether they ever realised how radical their lifetime had been and how they would be known and remembered for many generations but they just lived what they needed to live
In a similar way Ruth just lived out her daily existence, making her decisions as she went never knowing how integral she was in being part of the genealogy of Jesus - her faithfulness and obedience led her to the place where she married Boaz and as she looked back on her life as an old woman it would all have looked so ordinary – and that’s all she knew - but we know of that future destiny that she was part of and think she’s blessed - she never knew - and what will we never know about our ordinary life?
Our lives are not individual items standing on their own - they are merely a thread in the whole of the fabric – on their own they count for nothing only in their right place, lost among others do they make sense and complete the picture as God plans for them to.
Francis Frangipane says – Much of the work God does guiding us to our destiny unfolds in our lives unnoticed until the time of its manifestation. Seemingly insignificant aspects of our lives suddenly bloom into profound realities. The natural is transformed by the supernatural leaving us for ever changed

I know what you mean about am i doing enough etc. We are only a small part of the picture so what we think of as small may have a more far reaching effect then we think. We could be the starting domino that makes everything else fall into place. One domino isn't big in itself, but its movements in a set up situation can cause the fuller picture to be seen as the rest all fall over as well. If we carry on doing all that we know we should - however big or small, God will honour the action and it will be what is meatn to be for that time
